THE BED AND BREAKFAST EXPLOSION

Bed and Breakfast is one of the fastest growing segments of home-based business around the world. People are retiring earlier or being displaced in their jobs and are looking for constructive ways to stay busy and earn extra income. Many people have had large homes while their families were growing up and when their children have left home have decided to turn it into a B&B. Some people may have always had a dream of opening a Bed and Breakfast. Possibly they have stayed in many B&Bs in England and Europe and delighted in the thought of entertaining interesting people from all over the world in their own home.

Whatever the reasons, Bed and Breakfast is growing exponentially around the world, but unfortunately many people are entering the business without much knowledge of what it entails. Some people open a B&B with no business background thinking it is not really a 'business' and mistakenly feel that running one is really a 'no brainer'. As one author has written, "The difficulty of starting a B&B is often overlooked because of the emotional appeal and romantic notions that surround the subject."

If you are considering opening a B&B, investigate it fully by reading books, attending B&B seminars and talking to established B&Bs. By doing this you will find out if B&B is really for you or just a 'dream'.
